"Our son Lucas' speech and language skills have improved considerably since he started working with Patrick. He is a professional, patient and understanding therapist with genuine desire to help our son succeed. The sessions are filled with fun and activities tailored for a 6 year old to encourage speech and articulation. He sets reasonable expectations for a child with autism which promotes self confidence. Lucas feels comfortable and welcome in the nurturing environment. Sincere thanks to Patrick for the support, guidance and utmost dedication that you share with us and our son. Lucas' evolving voice and conversation is the most incredible sound!".
"My daughter has been going to Clermont Speech and Language for eight months now. When she first started, she only knew two words even though she was a year and a half. These past eight months have been wonderful. She has improved her vocabulary by more than thirty words.
She can now speak in three-worded sentences. She is also learning to recognize things in pictures. She still has problems with some letters, but she is working on them. She has fun with Mr. White. She calls him Pat or buddy.
She asks me everyday if we are going to see him. Mr. White is wonderful with her. He is very patient with her during the session. He is helping her a lot. He is also very understanding when it comes to me needing to cancel a session or to reschedule."
"Clermont Speech and Language Therapy Center is truly a family friendly practice. From the minute we walk through the door, we are always warmly greeted. The staff is very friendly and treats us like family. We are so grateful for them!!!"
"Clermont Speech delivered everything they promised and we are truly grateful for them. Our child is now communicating effectively and clearly. They have really been a blessing to my family."
Our son was non-verbal. He could understand what we were saying, and he would try to communicate back to us, but he could not make the proper sounds. We noticed this early on and began speech therapy at multiple places. Some of these places were great, but we never saw improvements with his ability to create the necessary sounds. For two years frustration dominated any communication efforts in our home. When trying to tell me something my son would have to repeat what he was trying to say over and over again, eventually putting his head in his hands and giving up. I could not understand my son. Our son was making no progress.
After more than two years serendipity led us to Patrick White. He came to us highly recommended from a speech therapist that we trusted, and who recognized that she could not offer what our son needed. The word “apraxia” was thrown with caution for the two years before we found Patrick, whispered from the shadows of maybe and not sure. Besides these whispers we had no understanding of what was hindering our son from progressing with something that came so naturally and easily with other children.
Upon meeting Patrick, he identified our son’s monster and devised a plan of attack. Our son is apraxia. For the next three years our son and Patrick formed a very special bond; formed something more than professional necessity, this bond was formed from a genuine compassion and determination on both sides. Patrick’s infinite patience while working with my son allowed an astounding progress through successes and failures, through happy times and frustrating times. Patrick never wavered. He helped us as parents as well as our son. He was honest with what we could, and should, expect, as well as what our son needed to practice to continue his upward momentum.
During these three years we noticed marked improvements in our son’s ability to communicate. Our son is now able to speak perfectly and no longer faces the gamut of challenges that we feared he would face for a lifetime. We credit Patrick White with this wonderful gift completely. Because of Patrick our son has conquered more in his nine years than most people will in their lifetime. We cannot thank Patrick enough. He has given our family more than we thought was possible, and for this he has our eternal gratitude. He truly did what no one else could, he gave our son a voice.
